The Faculty of Engineering at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) was established under the name "Faculty of Engineering and Architecture" by the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board on April 13, 1995, in accordance with the approval of the Ministry of National Education dated April 4, 1995, and numbered 9362. The faculty commenced its academic journey in the 1995-1996 academic year with the Department of Computer Engineering. Over time, it expanded with the addition of the Departments of Food Engineering, Bioengineering, Geological Engineering, Geophysical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. Through these developments, the faculty has attained its current structure. The name of the faculty was officially changed to the "Faculty of Engineering" in 2012, and it continues its academic activities in its building on the Terzioğlu Campus.
As of the Fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, the Faculty of Engineering consists of 13 departments, all of which offer graduate-level education programs. However, student admissions have not yet begun for the Departments of Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering. It is planned that the academic structuring of these departments will be completed in the upcoming periods, and they will commence educational activities. Currently, the faculty has 2,131 undergraduate students, 451 master's students, and 53 doctoral students.
An optional English preparatory class has been implemented in several departments. Additionally, since the 2012-2013 academic year, the Environmental Engineering Department has been offering 100% English-language education.
